Biscuit Doughnuts

We had a great day today playing in the sprinkler. I don't know what it is about playing in any water that makes you hungry. Riley was screaming for doughnuts. Well, I don't exactly live in an area with a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts on the corner (or in town, for that matter). Enter: Paula Deen. I love Paula Deen.....
The perfect doughnut recipe. A recipe that I actually had all the ingredients for. Surprise to all.
You will need:
Milk
Ground Cinnamon
Powdered Sugar
Canned biscuits
Vanilla extract
oil

In a bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tsp of ground sugar. In a second bowl, whisk together 5 TBS of milk, 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla.

Spread your doughnuts out on a cutting board. Use a biscuit cutter or small round cookie cutter to make holes in the biscuits.

Ok, Ok, I have to admit that I do not have a small round cookie cutter, or a biscuit cutter. But, I did find that if you take the bulb off the turkey baster, it makes a perfect circle.

While all the mixing and cutting is going on, heat the oil in a deep pan. Place the cut biscuits in the hot oil.

Once one side is golden, flip the doughnuts.

When they are finished cooking, place them on a plate with a paper towel to cool.
Once cooled, dip into the cinnamon/sugar mixture.

Then use the powder sugar icing and just drizzle it over each doughnut.

That's it! Biscuit doughnuts= happy boys.
